No Comments Autism Resources: Personal Experiences
Several people have mentioned how they find reading about the personal experiences of people on the autism spectrum to be helpful and even empowering. One of the reasons why these stories are so inspiring, I believe, is that they help us as parents to dream new dreams for our children. How can we see our kids through to a place where they are happy and fulfilled if we can’t somehow envision it being possible? The answer is we can’t–we need some light up ahead of us to show the way (or just to show that there is a way).
Of course, we can look to many sources for direction – God, family, friends, other parents of special needs children, professionals, etc – but I especially appreciate the individuals who have chosen to record their journeys and share them with all of us.
