12 Comments Will Clean House come to Pennsylvania?
Wow, this is the longest I have gone without posting in a while. I have been having a pretty emotional week and between spending most of yesterday at Hersheypark and then not sleeping very well last night, I won’t be doing much online tonight either. But I just wanted to tell you something that the Little Guy did today. When I picked him up from daycare at noon, I explained that I really needed to rest before we went to music and would lay on the couch while he watched a video. When I turned on the TV to put a DVD in, he saw that Clean House was on and wanted to watch it (we only have the $10 basic cable, but for some reason, we get the style. network and this is one of the shows we sometimes watch – he has decided he likes to see people rescued from their messy homes!)
So I let him watch it and tried to take a little nap. Yeah, that didn’t happen; he just doesn’t understand the concept of someone else needing to rest when he isn’t tired, so it’s just about impossible unless he gets really engrossed in something. Anyway, when the show ended, he wanted to watch another one, and I explained that we would have to turn it off in the middle to leave for music. He knows that will be too upsetting, so he turned off the TV, but was upset that I wasn’t ready to jump up and play with him. He went in the kitchen (where there are some toy bins) but then went upstairs for a few minutes. When he came back down, he got out three of his games and spread them all over the floor before I realized what he was doing.
He then announced that he had made a mess in every room, so now we could call the Clean House people and have them come rescue us. I was not too happy about this but was frankly too tired to deal with it, so I just explained that they were out in California. He then said we should get a long enough [telephone] wire that we could call all the way from Pennsylvania to California. 
So then I said that we could physically call California, but that they wouldn’t come all the way out here. Sure enough, when I got up and went upstairs, he had moved several things to the floor in each room!
(Sorry this is such a rambling story. I know it’s only 8:30, but I am going to take some melatonin and go to bed. Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight!)

That is cute, albeit frustrating for you at a time when you just wanted to rest! I can totally understand his line of thinking, and how hard it would be for him to understand that they won’t come to rescue your house
If it’s any consolation, my boys don’t really get the whole leave-me-alone-to-rest thing either. But videos usually do engage them enough to do the trick.

I hope you got some sleep. It is amazing how kids can pick up on stuff even from TV. He is a great kid, I’m sorry about your week though.

Yes, it is sort of cute, which is why I didn’t jump all over him. Two nights of going to bed early has helped me feel a lot better, although it hasn’t necessarily been good for my blog!
