I’m a couple of days late for the carnival, but I have been wanting to share about a wonderful book I read last week called Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos.
The story centers on Cornelia Brown and Clare Hobbs, who don’t know each other at the beginning of the story, but who, when they meet, change each other’s lives forever. I was completely enchanted by De Los Santos’ writing and her characters, by Cornelia’s constant references to classic films, and by her observations about love and family.
I may never have seen this book, except that a coworker who is moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, brought in a pile of books that she didn’t want to pack and move with her. A bunch of us in the office are going to circulate them around, so I picked out just a few to start. Here are some of the other titles I grabbed:
- Three Junes by Julia Glass
- Love in the Time of Cholera by Garcia Marquez
- The Pilot’s Wife by Anita Shreve
- The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot (for a bit lighter fare, but fun because the story is told through emails between the various characters)

These books all sound fantastic – and I read a lot so it’s crazy that I haven’t read any of them yet!

I love Love in the Time of Cholera! I haven’t read it in a while. Makes me want to re-read it.
The Pilot’s Wife is quite interesting!

Juvie fiction or not? I looked on Amazon, but it looks like an adult novel. Sounds good.
My post was about The Poisonwood Bible. I loved that. In between reading the rest of Kingsolver’s books, I am also starting The Last Lecture for my September book club. Have you read that? I hear it is a fast read and very uplifting.

A friend and I both happened to read the Three Junes last summer. Her mom had given it to her, and I had picked it up at a used bookstore. It was funny, because it wasn’t a new or popular book even then. I enjoyed her characters.
The book you just reviewed looks great. I love the cover. I would have picked it up too!
