How true! I am definitely dealing with this issue while trying to advocate for my son in kindergarten. All of my insecurities and worries make it difficult to be an effective communicator and to clearly analyze each situation instead of reacting purely on an emotional level.
On the other hand, I find that owning my “failings, passions, and prejudices” can actually become a source of strength, because then I can process them and move past them to be a part of the solution.

I went through what you are doing years ago. My son is a senior in high school and has been on the honor roll since 6th grade. It has been a struggle at times, but someone we made it and he’s off to college next year.
