Booking Through Thursday: Reviews

Do you read book reviews? Whose do you trust? Do they affect your reading habits? Your buying habits?

I do read book reviews, although mostly from other bloggers. Usually I get my books from the library, but if I am going to purchase a book, I will also look more carefully at the Amazon reviews to see what people are saying.

I enjoy 5 Minutes for Books because they have a variety of viewpoints represented, and it’s a lot of fun to visit the What’s On Your Nightstand posts every month to see what books are showing up on people’s lists.

How about you – are you a fan of reviews?

I read book reviews on Amazon and Good Reads. I think I read several reviews and decide whether I’m going to read the book or not by looking at reviews by reviewers that maybe sound like “me”. Overly critical? Blah. Way intellectual? Blah. Too many Spoilers? Noooo! Sorry, I’m not very helpful, am I?! This topic is something I need to think about because I have some free books that I’m supposed to review on my blog… I intentionally didn’t read your recent review Starting Sensory Therapy (only because I have to write about it too) and I don’t want to be influenced in any way by what you might have already said.
