About the Book
This book is a compilation of the best articles aimed at professionals from the award winning S.I. Focus magazine, which serves as an international resource to parents and professionals who want to stay informed regarding how to improve sensory integration and how to address sensory processing deficits. This magazine provides quality information written by leading people in the field as well as parents with insight into the topic. Founded and published by Kathleen Morris and edited by Carol Kranowitz, this magazine’s carefully selected articles will help the reader become knowledgeable in the latest research, products, and recommendations by experts from around the globe.

My Thoughts
With over 30 articles spanning a wide variety of topics within the field of sensory integration, this book provides a window into some of the current research and clinical insights surrounding sensory processing disorder. Of special interest to me was a four-part series, “Learning from Jean Ayres,” which introduces readers to her groundbreaking work as well as explains its relevance for today.

The section on general insights also has some good information on the terminology related to the disorder and on the work being done by the SPD Foundation. Although this book is aimed at professional, I did find it quite interesting to read and am looking forward to sharing it with my son’s occupational therapist.

Note: This is Book #60 of my 2011 Reads (master list here). I received a review copy of this book for free, and all opinions and comments are my own. Insights into Sensory Issues for Professionals is available at Amazon or directly from Sensory World/Future Horizons.
