To-Do Tuesday (My Post for Anti-Procrastination Wednesday)

For anyone who may not have seen this before, To-Do Tuesday was started by Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting for the purpose of attacking our to-do lists each week, blogging about our lists and what we’ve got going on, and sharing it with each other to help keep each other accountable.

The last week has been up and down in terms of productivity. I have made some progress on my goal towards obsessing less over things and just getting them done. I got a favorable response on the first part of a project I turned in at work and am giving myself time limits to do each subsequent part (so I am forced to make “good enough” decisions instead of agonizing so much over every little word).

I also stayed away from all but one piece of the Halloween candy (I’m not counting the bowl of candy corn from my stamp party in that, of course!) And I talked the very nice man at the auto shop into squeezing me in for an inspection tomorrow, with a loaner which they don’t normally do for that. It’s my own fault because I could have gotten this taken care of at any time in the last two months, but I just kept forgetting about it and now it’s down to the wire.

In my quest to get back to some sort of daily routine, I decided to check out a resource I had used at various times in the past – FlyLady. Apparently, she has recently switched to BigTent for her email distribution, and the daily reminders are now all together in one email. There are still a lot of testimonials and other emails, but overall I find it to be better than before. I am VERY slowly adding things into my routine, but I do feel like I am starting to get a handle on my days more now.

So this week, instead of publishing a random to do list, I am going to post what I have in my routines so far.

Morning Routine: (There will eventually be more stuff here, but nothing else is consistent yet.)

  • Make the bed.
  • Swish and swipe the bathroom after my shower.
  • Breakfast, meds for me and supps for Michael.
  • Double check weekly class newsletter for the day’s special and other notes. (Tomorrow is hat day – not exactly sure how that relates to drug awareness week, but I guess they are running out of ideas.)
  • Make sure TV is off by 8:30 and Michael is at school by 8:45 so he is not stressed out about getting all his morning stuff done before the bell rings. (Today we even did a 5 minute Room Rescue in the living room before we left, and he willingly helped out.)

After Work Routine: (I usually get home around 1:30)

  • Eat lunch and relax for 15 minutes.
  • Clean cat box if didn’t get to it in the morning.
  • Check out the FlyLady daily focus, zone mission and holiday cruising mission. (I’m not doing these every day yet, but eventually I will be.)
  • Think about what’s for dinner. (I have been terrible about menu planning; it always feels like such a chore to me. But you’ve got to eat something!)
  • Leave at 3:30 to pick Michael up from school.

After school is pretty standard stuff, some combination of snack, homework, making dinner, eating dinner, doing the dishes, bathtime, bedtime, blogging, maybe a little reading or TV, trying to make myself go to bed at a decent hour (the last one is the hardest one for me!)

With that said, I’ll publish this post and hit the sack. Hope everybody has a good Thursday tomorrow. :)

What I’m Doing When I’m Not Blogging (Which Is Way Too Often These Days)

I keep trying to sit down and spend some time catching up with everyone online, but somehow I just never seems to get that far. At least I’m back to organizing my to do list, and hopefully I will move past that very soon.

Anyway, I got about half of my items from last week done, and some of the others were attempted but not completed for one reason or another. So I’m keeping those on for the next week and adding some new ones:

To Do List

Get OAT form filled out PROPERLY so I can send test in to the lab. Reschedule doctor’s visit or find new doctor if they won’t work with us the way we need them to.

Go through vacation photos and get prints made for family back home.

Locate and purchase the books J recommended for telling your child about their diagnosis.

Buy presents and/or make cards for rest of October birthdays – Emma (present), Samantha (present), Kyle (card), Dan (card & present).

Have Michael practice jumping off of things and also putting face in water for next swim class.

Order more gluten free oats so we can make Monster Cookies.

Find Spiderman mask to go with costume given to us from Michael’s cousin.

Send claim form to FSA company.

Email info to parents from last weekend’s ASD HOPE meeting.

Figure out a daily routine that works with my new schedule so I can keep up with everything and still have time to blog. ;)

So, what’s on your to do list?

To-Do Tuesday

As I was hopping around today visiting Nightstand and Tackle posts, I came across a new meme that seemed like it was made just for me — To-Do Tuesday from Lisa at Crazy Adventures in Parenting.

For this meme, you post your to-do list for the week, link up to the main post at Lisa’s blog and then come back and either cross off or
check off things as you complete them. She even has a great HTML tutorial to show you how to do it (although I can’t figure out how to make the checkbox not start a new line, harrumph!).

As an inveterate list maker, I could come up with many, many items for this list, but I have decided to try to keep it manageable and realistic. My hope is that by posting this, I will feel more accountable to actually get the things done. And I am really excited about getting to check things off; in fact, I already have one thing done!

My To Do List:

Add school communication form notes to spreadsheet.

Do dishes daily.

Select pictures for Michael’s birthday scrapbook and order them from Costco.

Copy paperwork for respite program and mail it in.

Reschedule appt with DAN! doctor.

Make flyer for ASD HOPE April/May Empowerment Workshops.

Write review of Rex (now that I’ve found it again!) and get it posted.

Write Try This Tuesday for next week.

Return videos to Blockbuster, pay fines and sign up for Netflix.

I guess you’ll have to check back to see how I’m doing. Maybe I’ll post my completed list along with my new list next week – we’ll have to see how it goes. :)

To see other people’s lists or to link up your own, visit To-Do Tuesday. Let me know if you do it, so we can encourage each other!
