Only Six More Days To Be Six

This week my big project is the scrapbook I am making for Michael’s birthday. It is basically a celebration of him, with each page featuring a different letter of the alphabet and words the describe him starting with that letter. He loves the alphabet, so I think he will really like it.

Anyway, I have just looked through about two years worth of pictures for this! Here’s a few of my favorites (that I haven’t posted previously):

kindergarten

soccer awards

Celebrating the New Year With My First Giveaway!

Wow, I can hardly believe a new year is here already! And it is almost one year ago that I started blogging – so much has happened in such a short time that I can hardly take it all in. In the interest of reminiscing over the last few months, Looking Back and Moving Forward is my topic today at 5MFSN. I hope you’ll visit and also offer your suggestions for topics and issues to be discussed in the coming year.

Root & Sprout And to start off the new year on the right foot, I am having my first giveaway! It is in honor of Root & Sprout, which many of you know I have been a fan of since its inception. Not only is it a great site filled with useful articles designed to help your relationship with your children grow and flourish, but there is also a social community called Grow Together where members can connect with each other and pursue opportunities to write for R&S.

How do I enter?

To enter the giveaway, simply visit Root & Sprout, take a look around and leave me a comment here naming one article you read and what you liked about it. You can leave multiple comments if you find more than one article you like; just make sure each comment gives the name of the article and what you found helpful or interesting.

You can also earn extra entries by writing a post about this giveaway (leave me a comment with the link to your post) and by joining Grow Together (leave me a comment with the link to your GT page). Each qualifying comment will be entered in the random drawing for the giveaway. Entries will be accepted through Friday, January 9th, and the winner will be drawn and announced on Saturday, January 10th. This giveaway is open to US mailing addresses only.

What do I win?

bounce-dvd Well, I’m glad you asked; the winner will be receiving three volumes of the Bounce DVDs from Spectrum Connections.

Bounce is a series of developmental DVDs that uses music as a teaching tool. The host draws on her music therapy background to encourage cognitive and social learning for young children or children with special needs. The titles in this giveaway are Let’s Talk!, Routines!, and Let’s Go!

You can also visit Three Weddings for more Root & Sprout giveaways. Thanks to Debbie Yost for this great idea!

So Much Has Changed, And Yet So Much Has Stayed The Same

I was looking at pictures from Thanksgiving last year and found this one of Michael that shows his missing tooth. It’s sort of funny because he has a missing tooth again this year, in addition to two adult teeth that are partway in.

I am over at 5 Minutes for Special Needs today with more Thanksgiving Reminiscing, so please stop over and say hi.

I hope everyone had a nice holiday and is looking forward to December!

The Sixth of the Sixth

Not sure what to call this meme, but I was tagged by Nancy at Miracles Happen to post the sixth picture in my sixth photo album. I just started from when we got our first digital camera and went into the sixth folder of pictures to find this one:

It was taken four years ago when Michael was 2 1/2, and one of his favorite outdoor activities was to roll a ball down our neighbor’s driveway while I stood at the bottom to catch it. He still wasn’t talking then, but look at that pointing!

If you’re interested, please play along. To get things started, I’ll tag six of you (optional as always): PsychMamma, CC, Frog’s Mom, Andrea, Julie and Rickismom.
