Trish Needs A Makeover, Amongst Other Things

This seems to be the week for playing tag, as this is my second one. I have been tagged by Mimi Lenox, aka Mimi Pencil Skirt, aka Mimi Queen of Memes, for The Needs Meme. The rules are simple, just Google your name with the word “needs” behind it and post the results.
So without further ado (drumroll, please), here is what Trish needs:

  • Trish needs a makeover. (Okay, this one is pretty funny because it is actually the first item in a list another blogger named Trish made doing this same meme.)
  • Trish needs to always be in control of the situation and her men. (Hmmm . . . would you believe there are more bloggers named Trish? That have done this project too? And that have a child with autism – thanks, Mimi, I probably never would have found her otherwise!
  • “Recruiter Trish” needs a job. (So if anyone in the Washington/Baltimore area is looking for a new HR person, here you go!)
  • Trish needs space. (There was actually a bit more to this one, but it is not suitable for my family-friendly blog.)
  • Trish needs your HELP! (I’ll take all the help I can get.)
  • Trish needs hypo, neuopathy and vetsulin dosing info. (This apparently has something to do with her cat who has feline diabetes.)
  • Trish needs your help! (Yeah, I think we figured that out by now.)
  • Although Trish has spent her life helping others, she now needs help. With end-stage renal disease, Trish needs a kidney transplant. (Wow, I hope she got one. When I went to the page, her info was no longer there.)
  • What Trish needs now: I need people who want to save their family histories so that their grandchildren will always know the stories of their ancestors. (So this lady, Trish Cosgrove, is a personal historian who creates DVDs for special occasions. Her company is a vivid memory – pretty cool.)
  • With all this going on at work, the last thing Trish needs is the possibility of explosions at home. (Not currently applicable, but might come in handy at a later date.)
  • Trish needs to follow up with contacts. (Ugh, work!)
  • Trish needs some advice.
  • Trish needs to improve a little.
  • Trish needs more holiday cheer.
  • Trish needs to re-write the corporate sponsor package benefits letter and get chapter approved due to changes in sponsor benefits since there will not be a symposium this year but 2 workshops and the golf tournament. (That’s it, I quit – how come nobody else has to do any work around here??)

Okay, I went to the third page just to see what came up and this is what I found:

  • First, Trish needs to find out if she qualifies for unemployment. (Uncanny, isn’t it?)

So there you have it. I’m not sure how long this meme can go on because you get so many search results that are other people doing the same thing, but it was an interesting experience. So who to tag? Well, I’m going to pick some people that already blog under their own name because frankly I would be a little afraid of what Thrills Needs would pop up on Google! Okay, how about…

Tiffany
Katy
Melissa
Susan

I’m sure there are more, but it is late and I really need to get this post scheduled and go to bed! As always, playing along is voluntary but appreciated, and anyone else who wants to use their real name on the blogosphere is welcome to join in!

A Few of My Favorite Things

I was tagged by Thomas at The Autism Experience to share five of my favorite things and then tag five other bloggers to do the same.  In honor of his blog title and his 43rd birthday (which was Sunday), I am going to share five of my favorite experiences:

  1. Getting lost in a good book, especially one that is entertaining as well as thought-provoking.
  2. Waking up on my own in the morning feeling rested rather than by an alarm clock or an early-rising child.
  3. Finishing a blog post and feeling like I really said what I wanted to say, and learned something about myself in the process.
  4. Cleaning out my email box or making progress on my to do list.
  5. Sitting in my clean house admiring the peace and quiet (and sometimes I actually enjoy the cleaning process once I get myself started).

I am tagging the following bloggers to play along.  (It is completely voluntary, of course!)  You can pick a category or make the list completely random, whatever strikes your fancy.

And anyone else who wants to play along is welcome! What are your favorite things?

I Was Tagged!!

Okay Livin’ Life, I’ll play along this time, even though there are some really hard questions here.

What Ifs:

What if I could meet someone in the art world to chat with? I am not very good at chatting with people, especially famous ones, so this would be very nerve-racking for me. If my husband could be there to provide the witty banter and interesting questions, I would enjoy meeting Roz Chast and Grant Wood.

What if I could have one wish granted for the benefit of all mankind? NO MORE AUTISM!!! (I know this is more of a personal wish, but it would definitely benefit everyone. Seriously, what are we doing to ourselves with the way we live – in addition to all the issues we have with pollution and chemicals and the other hazards of an industrial society, they have found 56 different medications in the water in the city of Philadelphia, and yet we wonder why autism, ADHD, allergies, asthma and all these other auto-immune disorders are on the rise.)

What if I could travel anywhere in the world? I am picturing a quiet village in some romantic foreign county where we have plenty of time to just breathe the fresh air and go on picnics and bicycle through town. Of course, everyone speaks English very well and with charming accents, I am still able to get a cold Coke whenever I want it, and we have satellite TV with any channel or movie we want to watch at night!!

What if I could live in a period other than the present, for 24 hours? For every time I can think of, I keep running into issues with lack of running water and the amount of work required just to put food on the table. I think I have ended up back at the beginning – it would be wonderful to know what it was like to live in the Garden of Eden and walk and talk with God.

What if I could make over three areas of my body? The main thing would be my weight, of course, although if I were just a bit taller, that wouldn’t be an issue (see this post on one of my aunt’s blogs for an explanation). So once that is taken care of, I think I would be pretty happy.

What if I could become an animal for 24 hours?
I would probably want to be a cat because they are self-confident and sure-footed; independent but can seek out companionship when they want it; and their main work involves checking out the different lounging areas in the house to see which one is the best.

What if I could bring someone back to life for 24 hours? I would bring back Jane Austen. First, so she could see how much people love and appreciate her work and how truly timeless her writing is. Also, so we could find out once and for all the whole story about her love life and not getting married–then people could stop writing all those “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” novels speculating on what really happened.

I am not going to tag anyone because it seems like this one has pretty much run its course, but I will be keeping my eye out for a way to get you all back for making me think so hard!
