To-Do Tuesday, This Time With An Actual To Do List Included

Sorry for yet another week of absence from this blog – outside of a fun trip on Saturday, my time has been focused almost entirely on the behavior plan we are getting ready to start at school with Michael. I think we finally have something good and am very hopeful that it will work as expected. The teacher has been so frustrated and I really wish the team last year had started the process in February when I originally asked them to instead of waiting until mid-May when I demanded it, but at least we have one now.

I was also pretty stressed out because I agreed to go to Michael’s Halloween party at school before I realized that meant I had to actually PLAN it! I thought I was just supposed to show up and do as I was told. Thankfully, the homeroom parent did a lot of the kindergarten parties last year and helped me out with some great ideas. Now I just need to prep for one of the games and I will be all set.

Once that weight was off my mind, it was much easier to plow through the backlog of phone calls and paperwork that has been piling up on my desk. So now I have a list I can actually fit on one page again!

Stuff That Has to Get Done:

Buy new Halloween costume for Michael (hand-me-down one he wanted to wear isn’t big enough to wear over regular clothes)

Buy Halloween candy

Don’t eat the Halloween candy!

Make bingo cards for school party

Do Family Turkey Project together

Gather information for meeting with Special Needs planner

Make copies for MA reapplication and mail in the packet

Get car inspected

Things I’ve Been Procrastinating About:

Send out Michael’s school pictures to family

Go through vacation photos and send prints to family back in Illinois

Start planning for Christmas gifts

Figure out what I’m doing for Christmas cards

Find the books J recommended on talking about autism with Michael

What I’m Doing When I’m Not Blogging (Which Is Way Too Often These Days)

I keep trying to sit down and spend some time catching up with everyone online, but somehow I just never seems to get that far. At least I’m back to organizing my to do list, and hopefully I will move past that very soon.

Anyway, I got about half of my items from last week done, and some of the others were attempted but not completed for one reason or another. So I’m keeping those on for the next week and adding some new ones:

To Do List

Get OAT form filled out PROPERLY so I can send test in to the lab. Reschedule doctor’s visit or find new doctor if they won’t work with us the way we need them to.

Go through vacation photos and get prints made for family back home.

Locate and purchase the books J recommended for telling your child about their diagnosis.

Buy presents and/or make cards for rest of October birthdays – Emma (present), Samantha (present), Kyle (card), Dan (card & present).

Have Michael practice jumping off of things and also putting face in water for next swim class.

Order more gluten free oats so we can make Monster Cookies.

Find Spiderman mask to go with costume given to us from Michael’s cousin.

Send claim form to FSA company.

Email info to parents from last weekend’s ASD HOPE meeting.

Figure out a daily routine that works with my new schedule so I can keep up with everything and still have time to blog. ;)

So, what’s on your to do list?

The Return of the To Do List

Wow, my first to do list since we got back from vacation and started school! Frankly, the list of things to do has been so long that I have been avoiding it like the plague. Last night, I finally made some progress in crossing stuff off, so here’s what’s left:

To Do List

Finish adding people from autism fair to ASD HOPE list serve.

Find Michael’s swim goggles before the next session.

Get OAT form filled out and test sent in to the lab. They did fill it out but used the wrong insurance codes, so I am working with the office manager to see if the doctor will fix it.

Sync & charge Palm Pilot.

Figure out what side dish to take to friend’s house Friday night (and then make it).

Go through vacation photos and get prints made for family back home.

Locate and purchase the books J recommended for telling your child about their diagnosis.

Find more of the jeans I like that actually fit and buy more of them. (Side item: pray that boss never decides to take away casual dress code!)

Find someone to switch with for Friendship Station at church so I can join family when they go to Lake Tobias in October. Now this looks like it has been switched to a different weekend, so I don’t have to worry about it.

Buy presents and/or make cards for October birthdays – Emma (card done), Samantha (card done), Kyle (gift ready), Dan, Lisa (all done) and Joshua (all done).

It seems like an inordinately large number of these items involve spending money. Maybe I should have said yes when my boss asked me if I wanted to work more hours….

So, what’s on your to do list?

To-Do Tuesday

As I was hopping around today visiting Nightstand and Tackle posts, I came across a new meme that seemed like it was made just for me — To-Do Tuesday from Lisa at Crazy Adventures in Parenting.

For this meme, you post your to-do list for the week, link up to the main post at Lisa’s blog and then come back and either cross off or
check off things as you complete them. She even has a great HTML tutorial to show you how to do it (although I can’t figure out how to make the checkbox not start a new line, harrumph!).

As an inveterate list maker, I could come up with many, many items for this list, but I have decided to try to keep it manageable and realistic. My hope is that by posting this, I will feel more accountable to actually get the things done. And I am really excited about getting to check things off; in fact, I already have one thing done!

My To Do List:

Add school communication form notes to spreadsheet.

Do dishes daily.

Select pictures for Michael’s birthday scrapbook and order them from Costco.

Copy paperwork for respite program and mail it in.

Reschedule appt with DAN! doctor.

Make flyer for ASD HOPE April/May Empowerment Workshops.

Write review of Rex (now that I’ve found it again!) and get it posted.

Write Try This Tuesday for next week.

Return videos to Blockbuster, pay fines and sign up for Netflix.

I guess you’ll have to check back to see how I’m doing. Maybe I’ll post my completed list along with my new list next week – we’ll have to see how it goes. :)

To see other people’s lists or to link up your own, visit To-Do Tuesday. Let me know if you do it, so we can encourage each other!
